Whereas throughout the rest of the year we run mostly our bespoke courses for groups of friends which we hold across London, often in people's own homes, during the holidays we always make sure we dedicate at least a week for our Hampstead scheduled courses.
This week we were running introductory courses and therefore we had lots of new students between 8 and 15 years old with no or very little experience with Python coding. Most had been using Scratch (I always ask what they think of Scratch at the start and many say they're getting a bit bored of it) but that's not actual coding, of course!
Here's some of the quotes from children and parents:
Student: "Can we have a 24 hour coding session next time?
Me: "Don't you think that would be a bit too long"
Another student: " We can have 4 or 5 breaks"
They then went on to discuss other extended formats with their favourite being 9-hours a day for a whole week!
"I don't like it , I absolutely love it , it's so much fun , it's very interesting and I have learnt a lot. Stephen is a very nice and friendly guy", student age 10, after Day 1 of 3
"I am now a hero for discovering the course . He hopes to attend further courses in future" from his Mum.
"This is so much better than Scratch. You can do so much more. And it feels like proper coding", student age 13
"Mum, can we do this everyday"
"You're coming again tomorrow"
"No, I mean every day of the year"
