Online coding courses, our journey so far.

3 weeks ago online coding courses were something we had planned for the summer. Wow what a change a few weeks makes!

We took the decision early to move our weekly private sessions over to online coding courses. Children's online Python coding courses is a format we had been working on for a while but our plans were to roll out slowly over the summer months. Well things changed dramatically as we moved towards the current lockdown. Our private course families were hugely supportive as we moved everyone to codetoday's online format and the feedback was great. This gave us the confidence to rapidly bring forward fixed date courses online, with Easter being the first and followed by a weekly course programme that mirrors the popular sessions we run at venues across London.

When designing the courses we felt that the most important aspect was interactivity with the instructor during the live elements. We've worked hard to develop a combination of softwares to achieve this. It's meant the sessions are a true two way interaction between small groups of students and instructors. We've developed our range of on-demand video to support this and it's growing all the time as well as the usual resources we provide to help keep children coding outside of lesson time.

Depending on the course format you choose, students have either a daily interactive session or a weekly session. Within codetoday's learning platform each course is supported by on-demand videos that reinforce what's been learnt plus a host of notes and quizzes to keep students coding.

Whilst the feedback we've had from running over 40 online courses has been great we still want to students and parents to be able to try a session before committing. Online has allowed us to schedule demo sessions, that are completely free, where the technology is introduced and everyone can get a feel for how things work. Links to the latest demo courses can be found at the bottom of this post.

Easter courses coming up

We have a full programme of courses coming over the Easter weeks. Week two courses start on April 14th, they each run for 4 days with a hour interactive session per day. To ensure we keep small group sizes we have split the courses into age groups with the option of either morning or afternoon sessions.

Times are:

Age 7-9, 9am or 2pm

Age 10-12, 10:30am or 3:30pm

Age 13-16, 12am or 5pm
