Looking ahead beyond lockdown

It would be fair to say the last few weeks have been somewhat of a rollercoaster. Our careful planning for live online coding courses was brought forward by about three months and the whole thing launched in the space of a few weeks. It's something we're immensely proud of as a team.

Most importantly we've worked hard to ensure that what has always made codetoday courses special has transferred seamlessly to an online environment. At codetoday we put a huge emphasis on interactivity and the two way communication between instructor and student. This allows us to really shape the courses to the interests of each individual we welcome onto a course. Finding the right software and customising it to our needs took some time but we believe we've arrived at a solution that prioritises two-way communication between student and instructor. All our courses are centred around live sessions, whether daily or weekly, supported by instructional videos and a host of guides and quizzes to keep learning going in between.

This combination is vitally important for us because it's incredibly hard to learn to code just by watching a video, or sat watching an instructor talk. Each student needs the support from an instructor to edit and guide what they are doing at that's exactly what we've achieved.

So where next?

For a lot of businesses a shift to online is a temporary diversion to deal with lockdown and keep offering the services their customers want. Whilst codetoday will absolutely be bringing back the face to face courses that are so popular, our online course portfolio will continue to evolve and grow, lockdown or not.

What this has taught us is twofold. That our teaching practices are sound and they work in any environment and secondly that there are lots of families outside of our usual geography keen for their children to learn coding in Python.

With this in mind the future looks to be somewhat certain in that we will continue to offer our popular courses at locations across London and welcome students from all over the UK and beyond to our online courses.
